Workforce Development Update

Kevin J. Kelley, RTMA Executive Director

The RTMA is collaborating with Monroe Community College in implementing its second Accelerated Precision Machining Certificate Program. The RTMA is paying the cost of tuition for the participating candidates. These funds were provided through a grant with the New York State Urban Development Corporation.

This certificate program is designed to prepare participants for employment in the precision metal-working industry. Included in this certificate is the course work and hands-on skills development necessary to enter apprenticeship programs in mold making, machine building, tool and die making, or employment in production machining.

This group has passed the halfway mark, and will be completing the program August 8. The RTMA will be working to place these graduates with RTMA Members. Janet Olivieri is serving as the RTMA Placement Officer. To date, the RTMA has placed a number of skilled, experienced individuals with our members. Janet is presently working with RTMA Members to assist them in meeting their hiring objectives.

You may have seen the email blasts that we have sent out with the resumes of pre-qualified candidates for employment. We will continue to do so on a regular basis.

The competition for key employees continues to increase. The RTMA is working to meet that demand on a variety of fronts.

Should you have an interest in filling any vacancies that you may have in your workforce, please contact Janet Olivieri at 585-734-1811 or
